My application has a feature which creates QuickTime movie files and
though these movie files are basic QuickTime movies, it is preferable
for these movies to open in my own, special movie player app. Take
all that as unalterable requirements. So, I have a Document Type in
my Info.plist with an Extensions of "mov" and an OS Types of
"Moov" (i.e. the standard QuickTime movie identifiers). Now, by
creating the movie files with a creator code (a.k.a. BundleSignature)
equal to that of my special movie player app I achieve the result of
my movies opening in my app.
The problem is that I do not want to supply a custom document icon.
I would like the movies to appear just like any old QuickTime movie
only open in my special movie player, if it is available. Is it
possible to do this dynamically (i.e. not by copying the icns file
from the QuickTime Player), thus, always achieving the result of
acting different but looking the same?
This might be a CF/NS-Bundle question but I thought I would try Xcode
(the app builder people) first.
Thanks.
