I am given the option to quit or continue with continue the default, but I worry that it will have an effect when I release the project. I get the error regardless of the project I open. If you get this for every project on one machine (and not for the same projects on different machines), it implies that either something is corrupted in your Xcode preferences file, or in your user files within all of your project bundles. It looks more like your File Types preference has an empty string for a file type.
I recommend quitting Xcode, moving aside ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Xcode.plist and reopening the project. If that doesn't make the error go away, then use the Finder's Show Package Contents context menu on your project and remove all ".pbxuser" files in the project.
