Responding to my own earlier post. If you do install XCode 2.3 and
you choose to install the optional Java Developer Documentation, be
aware that it takes an incredibly long time to install this. It warns
you via a dialog box that it can take between 20 minutes and an hour
for this to install and index, but it doesn't tell you this until
after you've already begun the installation process.
And they aren't kidding. So far, on a 1.5GHz G4 AlBook, it's been
installing for close to an hour already, really, with the CPU at
100%, and it's still going. I'm hoping that it will run faster on my
G5, but I think I'll wait until lunch to start it.

XCode 2.3 has been released for free download from the ADC web site
<http://connect.apple.com/>. It's a 915M download, and the Release
Notes are a separate, much smaller, PDF download.
