The remainder of the changes are bug fixes in the compiler,
assembler, linker, debugger, and SDKs. Most of the fixes have to
do with 64-bit code generation and Dwarf debugging. The gcc and
gdb release notes have more detail.
Where can we find these release notes? The only ones I can find
after installing seem to apply only to 2.4, not 2.4.1:
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/releasenotes/
DeveloperTools/RN-GCC4/index.html
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/releasenotes/
DeveloperTools/GDB.html
I think it's here:
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/releasenotes/
DeveloperTools/Xcode/RN-Xcode/index.html
Also available from the Help menu.
Those look like the release notes for Xcode 2.4, not the release
notes for GCC and GDB that Chris mentioned...
Version of GDB installed with the new Xcode Tools:
GNU gdb 6.3.50-20050815 (Apple version gdb-573) (Fri Oct 20 15:50:43
GMT 2006)
Version of the release notes:
"This note covers known bugs or usage issues in Apple GDB Version
477, which is based on the FSF GDB sources as of August 15, 2005."
Version of GCC included with the new Xcode Tools:
i686-apple-darwin8-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build
5367)
Version indicated in the release notes:
"Xcode 2.3 Release: Apple's GCC 4.0 is now based on version 4.0.1 of
the Free Software Foundation's GNU Compiler Collection."
And incidentally, the release notes for Xcode accessible from the
Help menu seem to be for version 2.4, not 2.4.1:
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/releasenotes/
DeveloperTools/Xcode/RN-Xcode/index.html
I seem to recall that something similar happened when 2.4 came out;
the release notes were all titled as "2.3".
