I also like getting the full version. It's convenient for when you need to do a full uninstall and then reinstall. The 1GB download takes about 20 minutes on my connection, so it's quite reasonable. For those without broadband, there's the ADC Select and Premier mailings. For those without broadband or ADC membership, I guess there are three options:

1. Go to the local Apple store with a DVD and asking them to burn a copy for you
2. Do the download over dialup
3. Stick with the version you have

I second that. We're all developers here, so it's not unreasonable to
require a broadband connection.

A delta update for Xcode would be a nightmare for both us and the Xcode team
if you think about it.

Why does one have to download nearly 1GB to make a
x.x.1 update to XCode? What gives?!? Why aren't there
delta updates for Xcode like there are for the OS
updates?

Because the last time Apple did that (the Xcode 1.1 update), the delta was incomplete, and it made development in groups much more difficult since everyone tended to have a different version of the 1.1 update installed. I'm glad they've never done that again.
