That is what I really want. I have a 30" display but can only see

better
for making good use of the available screen space.
You're aware that Xcode has a multi-window mode, right? You just
drag the editor in the main window to the bottom (so it's "no longer
there"), and double-click what files you want to open in a new
window. You may have to also click the toolbar icon that turns off
"compact" mode, and maybe massage a few other prefs (open counterpart
in new window etc.), but then it works fine for me.
If you then drag the splitter to the right and make the window
narrower, it looks almost like a CodeWarrior window, and pretty much
behaves like one. The only downside is that at narrower widths the
popups for build style etc. in the toolbar become unusable, and that
Xcode always forgets what columns you've set to show in the Groups
and Files table, or otherwise I would never have to reopen those two
panes.
