You're aware that Xcode has a multi-window mode, right? You just drag the editor in the main window to the bottom (so it's "no longer there"), and double-click what files you want to open in a new window. You may have to also click the toolbar icon that turns off "compact" mode, and maybe massage a few other prefs (open counterpart in new window etc.), but then it works fine for me.


If you then drag the splitter to the right and make the window narrower, it looks almost like a CodeWarrior window, and pretty much behaves like one. The only downside is that at narrower widths the popups for build style etc. in the toolbar become unusable, and that Xcode always forgets what columns you've set to show in the Groups and Files table, or otherwise I would never have to reopen those two panes.
