A ping will work yet the firewall on the networked hosts can still be
blocking the ports needed to run dedicated network builds. And I don't
think just enabling the setting in Xcode will open the firewall port. I
think the Xcode docs explain this: search Xcode Help.
Check the firewall settings on the other hosts, and make sure all the
necessary ports are open. You can then run a Port Scan on them using
Network Utility to see if the ports really are open and the service is
listening. It can take a couple minutes per port-number scanned, so use as
small a range as possible. If you've enabled firewall logging, you can
watch the firewall deny connection attempts, too.
