ppc64 is no different (one data break register, not exposed to User
Space by the kernel). On x86 the data break registers are available
in user space. Can't tell yet whether we will be able to fit wiring
them up to gdb in the next release or not, we've got lots of other
stuff on our plate.

So first, you should be aware of the limitations of the watchpoint

Which raises a question I've had for a while now - I know that using
watchpoints on PPC32 causes debugging to become super-slow because
the hardware watchpoint register isn't available, but are things any
different under i386, PPC64, or x86_64?
