I have 2 GB in my 17" PB G4. I even ordered it off of the Apple web site
that way.

There appear to be five different computers called the '17" Powerbook
G4'.  Mine would be the one labeled simply 'PowerBook G4 (17-inch)',
which has a 1 GB limit.
