Compiler descriptions, etc

Hi.

I want to improve the current Xcode support for the D programming language.

Specifically I want to rewrite the compiler spec file for gdc, that work just as seamless as the standard compilers.

Where can I find documentation for how this is done? The example files I have found seems to break with different Xcode versions, work poorly, or not show up in the compiler list at all.
