It's all driven by economics... and that includes the Apple
executives' impressions of what the competition is, and
what they're doing. They knew they were releasing X a
little early, but were also aware that the competition was
doing the same and thus snatching "bragging rights" to
features that were buggy at best. Those "bragging rights"
lead to increased sales... and around and around it goes.
And don't forget to throw off-shoring and the USA and
European and Australian talent glut into the mix; that's
bound to have created some communications and other
problems all around.
