I should to a newer G5 running OS9 in Classic mode but am stuck with a simple problem.
CW needs to correct file types to recognize its files but except from creating a new file in CW, i seem to be unable to set a proper file type in OSX Classic mode.

Either you use ResEdit (it has a "Get Info..." command that lets you edit type and creator), or you find a copy of FileTyper or whatever it was called ... it's an app that can edit file attributes (including type & creator), and includes a MakeAutoTyper program that creates a copy of itself that automatically batch-changes file types.
