Shark 4.4.2 can actually handle dSym directly as long as the dSym bundle is left right next to the application bundle. That's how Xcode produces it in the build directory. In the future, Shark will be able to locate a dSym file anywhere on the drive, but currently it must be next to the application.

If you have a session where it didn't find symbols, you can symbolicate by open the session, going to the File/Get Session Info menu item and then going to the symbols tab. Now you can choose a library and point Shark to a symbolicated version of that file (or the dSym file). Sadly, this functionality is broken in 4.4.2, however, but will be fixed soon.

I recently switched to using DWARF debug symbols (in a .dSYM file), and strip the release application. But I want to run my profiling with a release build. Shark does just fine, but doesn't give me very useful information.

Can I symbolicate a Shark session?
