You need to set the environment variable for the app that is going to
load your plugin. If you have a project that builds a plugin, it's
often very convenient to set up an external executable pointing to
the application loading your plugin. If you have such an executable,
you can easily set the environment variable for it. Otherwise, you
can just launch it from a shell and set the environment variable there.
