And the bookmark pop-up with key binding is pretty nice, especially since it only seems to show bookmars for that particular file, yielding a quick way to jump within a file. And then the apple-shift-M shortcut for the main bookmarks group is a quick way to get to bookmarks between files. I think some of the XCode bookmark features are very nice, I just miss a way to make, navigate, and delete them so quickly without having to choose from a list or go to a list to delete.
Try this:
In the Default layout, select the Bookmarks smartgroup with the mouse. Unplug the mouse.
1) Command-shift-D to Open Quickly, type file name, press Enter. 2) Use arrow keys to navigate to position one. 3) Command-D to Make New Bookmark, type an identifying name if you wish, press Enter. 4) use arrow keys, etc. to navigate to position two. 5) Command-D to make second bookmark, type name, press Enter. 6) Command-Option-F to enter the Filter in Detail view. Type a few characters to filter the bookmarks if you wish. 7) Tab to focus in the Detail view, then use arrow keys to move among the bookmarks. The embedded editor will jump to select the bookmarked text, even across files. 8) Tab again to move into the text to edit.
If you want to get back to the bookmarks for navigation, repeat from step 6, or in many cases you can control-option-shift-Up and Down arrows to do Next Detail/Previous Detail in the detail list without changing focus out of the editor. Make new bookmarks at any time with command-D.
This works with any smartgroup: find results, build warnings and errors, Project Symbols, etc.
If you don't like the command-shift-D, command-shift-F, and command-shift-control-arrow keybindings you can set your own in the Key Bindings preference pane.
Don't forget to plug the mouse back in. Chris |
