list printed out, although the strange thing is if I do a hex search for the
data in the file I find the .plist data, so that's a little weird as its
there.


Any else had this working or know what to do.

If you use otool -l you'll see the segment there. The Finder does not seem to look at it though. It is possible that you will have to tell your customers to use otool.
