Sucess!
Here is what I did. I located the file FoundationTool.xcodeproj inside the
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Apple/Developer Tools/Project Templates/Command Line Utility/Foundation Tool/
folder, and opened it with TextMate (TextEdit does not work). There were 4 files there
1. bobueland.mode1
2. bobueland.pbxuser
3. project.pbxproj
4. TemplateInfo.plist
I've deleted 1 and 2 but left 3 and 4. Then I've started up Xcode and it worked. Thanks everybody for your help :)
Bob
P.S I still do not know why I did those things, it was trial and error together with the clues I've got from this forum. It bothers me that I do not understand the 216 lines project.pbx. It has all kind of cryptic codes in hex like 08FB7796FE84155DC02AAC07 and others. The file TemplateInfo.plist is 13 lines and more easy to understand. The file bobueland.mode1 is 1333 lines long and some kind of xml file. The file bobueland.pbxuser is 82 lines long but I have no clue what it does. What has all this to do with a simple template is beyond my current understanding. I think that an ideal programming language and IDE should be transparent and easy to understand so that a programmer has a total control of the process. But I'm starting to suspect that this is not the case with Objective-C and Xcode.
