I want to see the value of a status code returned by a system
function. It's a tDirStatus, which is an Apple-defined enum type, but
Xcode just says "undefined type" and I can't see the value.

Are you talking about seeing it in the debugger GUI or in the documentation window?

In the debugger window. Why would expect to see the value of a status code in documentation?
