Xcode 3 SCM (Subversion)?

I'm trying to get SCM working with an Xcode 3 project. One of my
major problems is that the SCM section of the docs is out of date and
describes the Xcode 2 project preferences pane with regard to SCM.
SCM settings have changed dramatically from 2 to 3.
I make a new project choosing "External Build System". I go to the
project prefs/general and at the bottom there is a drop-down menu for
SCM Repository. I click it and choose Configure SCM Repositories,
which jumps into the Xcode prefs/SCM. I make a new repository, set
it, and it gives a green bubble and indicates "Authenticated". I hit
OK, the prefs go away, and I see the new repository appear in the
project prefs/general/SCM repository drop down from earlier...but it's
grayed out, I can't select it.
I have found also discovered the SCM menu and its Repositories option,
which brings up a nice GUI navigator for the Subversion database. I
successfully checked out the source tree and say the directory appear
in the Finder...however, the repository is still grayed out in the
drop down menu for the project prefs.
Like I said, the docs are out of date. The section on configuring SCM
shows images of the project prefs from Xcode 2. I know my docs are
otherwise up to date because I installed Xcode off the CD onto a brand
new computer...plus other areas of the docs make specific reference to
Xcode 3.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Cheers!
