Default Default Configuration

Does anyone know how to change the default setting for Default Configuration (build setting). Whenever I make a new project the default is set to Release. I'm fairly sure this wasn't always the case, but I don't know how to set Debug as the default for new projects... It's a little thing, I know, but it's really starting to annoy me.
