Thanks for the link. Unfortunately it was for developer tools info only, not Core Reference Library. It downloaded a 136 mb xar <com.apple.adc_reference_library.developer etc.> which file Xcode could open, not that I know it did anything with it.... I suspect the markers may be missing inside the Core Reference Library distribution xar. None reappeared after this process.
