To all,

What method would you suggest for creating icons? Icon Composer is wonderful at turning image files into icon files, but I'm having trouble getting the image files in the first place. I feel like Photoshop would be a little bit overkill -- something reminiscent of MS Paint would be more my speed.

Any suggestions would be welcome, but obviously cheaper is better. Also, my apologies in advance if this is the wrong list; it seemed the most applicable to me.
