Unless it can be demonstrated, though, that Xcode was the cause of Activity Monitor dropping its creator code, this thread has wandered far from relevance for this list (even as marked [OT]). Please let's not use this thread to rehash decades-old design decisions of Mac OS X regarding types, creators, and extensions.

Can we also agree to use slightly more common English, as she is spoke by the common folk. It took me three reads through it all before I realised that the word "utility" in

was mostly unrelated (except perhaps linguistically) to the its use in

On an operating system the reserves a folder name called Utilities (from which you can't move things or risk update traumas, yada yada), its probably not a good idea to use the term "utility" when "usefulness" would have been less ambiguous.
