Did you remember to convert binary plists to readable plists before
examining them by eye?
Well, no, but even the binary ones have recognizable strings
embedded, IME, for example this screen shot (of "more Library/
Preferences/E-Reg.plist," in case it gets mailer-pruned). There's a
lot of incomprehensible binarality there, but also discernable
strings like "NSTableView Sort Ordering NSNavOutlineColumnSettings.v1_"
