Not by default if it's a C++ app.(related to changes with static and dynamic c++ std lib)

Marco - I looked at Target Settings - Menu->Project->Edit Active Target & cannot see any settings regarding i386/ppc

If you hit Command I (Get Info) What does display Kind ?
