It is just a matter of finances at the moment.
Maybe you could pick up something used?
I was just hoping that a distributed build over the
internet would be a cool way to solve this problem, but maybe not.
I'm under the impression that distributed builds are most useful when
you have a high speed network connecting the computers. I'm not sure
what it would be like doing it over the Internet. I'd be interested
in hearing how feasible that is.
Oh, and it just occurred to me that distributed builds only work with
the same kind of processor, so you'd need to distribute to PowerPC
Macs. You can't distribute from a PowerPC to an Intel or vice versa
IIRC.

It
has been an interesting
discussion so far, though, and I am getting good suggestions.
Thanks for your input, Laurence!

If you have to do this more than once in a lifetime you *really* want
to get an Intel Mac with multiple cores and at least 2MB of RAM.
Xcode loves RAM, and is designed to leverage the power of multiple
cores/processors. I also hear Xcode performs better on Intel Macs.

So, if I could get a few volunteers, we could knock this baby out in
perhaps just a day (or, if anyone has an 8 core, 3 GHz beast,
I'll bet
it can chew through this FAST).
You might be surprised. I seem to recall that some people find
Xcode's performance better using 4 cores than 8, at least in some
situations.

If anyone is able to help in any way, I would appreciate it. I am
using X Code 2.4.1, (gcc 4.x), runnning on top of Tiger 10.4.9.
I am
able to use distributed build with this version.
Thanks,
