Now you should not have /usr/bin in your include path (set by -I
flags). But if you did, and if /usr/bin were earlier in that path
that the proper location of local.h (which is /usr/include), then
you'd run into this: /usr/bin/locale is being included, which of
course makes no sense at all since it's a program not an include file.
Here's my CPATH value:
/usr/local/include/vtk-5.0:/usr/local/include/wx-2.8:/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-release-static-2.8:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/usr/local/include/vtk-5.0:/usr/local/include/wx-2.8:/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-release-static-2.8:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/usr/local/include/vtk-5.0:/usr/local/include/wx-2.8:/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-release-static-2.8:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin
So, putting /usr/include at the beginning should fix this problem...
$ echo $CPATH
/usr/include:/usr/local/include/vtk-5.0:/usr/local/include/wx-2.8:/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-release-static-2.8:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/usr/local/include/vtk-5.0:/usr/local/include/wx-2.8:/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-release-static-2.8:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/usr/local/include/vtk-5.0:/usr/local/include/wx-2.8:/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-release-static-2.8:/usr/local/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin
but it didn't:
$ g++ -I/usr/local/lib/wx/include/mac-unicode-debug-2.8
-I/usr/local/include/wx-2.8 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGE_FILES
