Xcode 2.4.1 linker issue repro submitted

  • Subject: Xcode 2.4.1 linker issue repro submitted

Just wanted to share that I've submitted a linker bug radar that's been a huge pain over the last couple years for a bunch of people here (including myself)...

I always seem to end up having to add tons of unneeded source files in our small command line projects when clearly the linker should be smarter. The fact that CodeWarrior linked with the expected object file set made things all the more fishy (note: I'm well aware of GCC_SYMBOLS_PRIVATE_EXTERN in Xcode).

After having to deal with this yet again with a new set of projects I was creating, I decided to bite the bullet and condense the issue to an unambiguous repro radar project... I've updated the radar (4555786) and I've posted the project for those here that also share the pain when it comes to the linker not being smart: http:// musicmeetsart.com/confused_linker.zip

Hopefully, this will fixed soon so that we'll be one step closer to a linker on par with CodeWarrior's...

Andy
