linking with libcrypto

  • Subject: linking with libcrypto

I need to link against libcrypto with Xcode 2.4.1. I can do it by adding "-lcrypto" to Other Linker Flags, but I'm wondering if that's the "right" way to do it. I saw a message from Eric Albert in the archives from January 2006 saying

Of course, you can also just add libcrypto.dylib to your project and not pass "-lcrypto" at all....

But when I try adding libcrypto.dylib (from the 10.4u SDK) to the target, it goes into the "Copy Bundle Resources" build phase, and doesn't resolve the undefined symbols. What's up with that? I'm not sure I've ever needed to link against a dylib that wasn't wrapped in a framework before.
