I don't have a 2000-file project to test against, but I did want

drag it
to the LEFT, which would almost certainly be on another window or the
desktop or some other object that the OS has to resolve as a
potential
drop-target, and so could take some cycles.
I'll have to remember this, as I always drag it to the left. You
want it gone, out of the window, so this is the logical direction.
Who knows what happens if you drag into the window?
But who knows what the Finder or Photoshop will make of your
breakpoint either?
Anyway, it makes no difference which direction you drag. The problem
is that Xcode doesn't start dragging until a second or so after you
click on the marker, by which time your mouse pointer may be miles
away. You're then dragging at a distance and if the pointer is
against the edge of the screen, you may not be able to drag the
marker far enough to get it out of the window. You can click and wait
for the drag to start, but you don't get any feedback until you
actually move the mouse. I usually click, wait a couple of seconds,
waggle the mouse a bit to see if the drag has started and then drag,
but it's very tedious. Using the contextual menu is a good tip - I
hadn't realized it was there. Now I can right-click, let go of the
mouse, go and do some chores and them come back to see if the menu
has appeared :-)
