options for generating pbxproj files

  • Subject: options for generating pbxproj files

I'm wondering about other options for generating pbxproj files. Currently, I'm updating my projects using AppleScript. Currently, I'm not too happy about it. The primary reason is the speed and I'm also not sure if it would work being logged in only on the command line. I also don't like that when I generate the pbxproj file using this method, the project result is different every time. This makes it impossible to track changes in perforce.

What are other options that people have used when generating their project files. I'm aware of cmake but right now I'm leaning towards a custom pearl script or such.

My end goal is to have everything automated so that the project can be maintained on a build machine that whenever checkins happen, the projects are rebuilt if needed and then the new builds are deployed and unit tests ran.

Anyone have any feed back or insight to offer on doing this?

Thanks.
