Hmm, my comments in the bug were misinterpreted by others. As I stated
in earlier emails, simply asking for "a public API for Xcode" isn't an
actionable bug. It's like asking someone for a "public API to Mac OS
X". Of course they'll come back with "What do you want to do?".
Similarly, if you want to request support for opening up Xcode via
public APIs, you'll need to provide details about what you want access
to. Do you want to:
- add new build tools
- add new target types
- add new product types
- add new project items types
- add new debuggers
- add syntax support for new languages
- add indexing support for new languages
- support new text editors inline
- support new text editors via the external editor interface
- add new editors for new filetypes
- support different SCM systems
- integrate with external bug tracking systems
- and so on...
(This is just the stuff I can think off right now, I'm sure there are
more ideas out there)
BTW, we already have bugs on Xcode for most of the items I mentioned
above (never confuse the absence of a feature for lack of interest in
a feature). We are fully aware that our developers want a more
extensible Xcode, we're just not there currently (and no, I can't tell
you when – you know the rules :) ).

Well, that was fast:
This is a follow-up to Bug ID# 5200968.
After careful consideration, there are currently no plans for this
to be implemented, but we will continue to reference this issue in
the future.
We consider this issue closed. Thank you for taking the time to
notify us of this issue.

No, there is no supported plug-in API at this time. If this is
something that you desire, I suggest filing a request at

Hi,
I'm interested if there's public API for Xcode's plugins
I plan to write an extension for the Xcode..
PS
Everything I found at the moment is this site with reversed API..
Not sure about it's usability for newer versions though
