I have been searching Apple’s documentation and this
list for information on referencing an external project, and there seems to be
one thing missing.
I have Xcode 2.4.1 and have had no trouble adding a
reference to a framework project I am using. When I add the reference to
my project, Xcode lists the framework project’s product under the
reference, I can add that product to my target’s link step, but I cannot
find a way to add the referenced product/target as a dependency of my target.
From the Xcode 2 User’s Guide:
“You can relate targets in the current project to
targets in the referenced project by creating a target dependency. You can add
a dependency on a target in the referenced project in the same way that you
would add a dependency to a target within the same project. See “Adding
a Target Dependency” to learn more about target
dependencies.”
As far as I can tell, this is not true. The project
reference only contains a reference to the project’s product(s), and
products cannot be added to a target as a dependency.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping
that my years of using Visual Studio have just closed my mind and I am missing
something obvious. That’s been the case so far.
