It's getting more confusing the more I look at it!
I worked out why the i386 binary wasn't linking. The project conversion
process from Xcode 2.4.1 to 2.5 managed to remove the SDK root setting
for the Release configuration, so it was defaulting to /, which meant
that it was looking at my PPC system.
So, I changed that, and now I'm back to the same undefined symbols in
the standard library. Curiously, if I turn on ZeroLink, I can build and
run without problems, but I can't link. I really don't know what I did
to make it link once, and then stop it linking again. Time to call it a
night and try again in the morning...
