I hope a carbon question is ok here.

I was told that carbon is not and will not ever be 64 bit compatible? It's sounds like it is one it's way to becoming deprecated.

Has apple completely abandoned C++ for Carbon (Obj-C)? What does that do for portability if you are writing apps for linux, mac and windows?
