From memberd's man page on Tiger:

memberd is a daemon process used by the system to resolve group memberships.

The -r option flushes it's cache. If the leopard replacement is well designed, there's no replacement needed. The catch-all-cache-problems- solution would be a reboot.

Bear in mind, please, that I'm just a newbie trying to set up version control using Subversion under Xcode 3.0. This is the first time I'm attempting to set up version control, and I have no idea of what I'm doing: I'm just following orders!

If Xcode 3 is still as feature incomplete as earlier versions, I'd recommend to read and exercise the first few chapters of svn's handbook <http://svnbook.red-bean.com/> before trying to use it from inside Xcode.
