I just tried to post the build transcript, but it's awaiting moderator approval 'cause it's too big (one of the main reasons I didn't post it before). In the meantime, here's my accompanying commentary:

"The build transcript is included below (it's very long and very redundant - that's why I hadn't included it previously). But before you dive in: might it have something to do with both the upgraded target and the jam-based target both still "residing" in the project? (I thought to delete the old target from the project, but when I went to look for the upgraded target's search path settings (for example), there were none to be found, but they're still set in the old target, so I assumed the upgraded target was using the jam targets settings and was thus reluctant to delete it. However, I can easily recover it and reproduce the upgrade which resulted in where I'm at now, so it's a risk I can afford to take...)"

So, I tested the above hypothesis (by deleting the jam-based target) - here's the build transcript which resulted:

There could be many different reasons for multiply defined symbols.  At
this point, we don't even know what your program is written in.  It could
be C++, Obj-C, or anything else.  A useful answer requires more details
about exactly what you're doing.
