[Q] How to debug input methods?

Hello.

I'm planning to build an input method, either in Cocoa or in Carbon.
I tried the BasicInputMethod and HexInputServer sample codes.

Problem is that the BasicInputMethod doesn't appear under the International=>InputMethod list,
and the palette for the HexInputServer doesn't come up although I can use the input method.

Is there a way to attach debugger to see what happens in the code?
Probably a way to attach a debugger to a running input method?

Thank you.
