framework search paths and build directory

It looks as though Xcode (2.4.1) is adding the per-configuration build products directory as an implicit framework search path that takes precedence over the explicit FRAMEWORK_SEARCH_PATHS build setting. Is there any way to make it not do that, or change the precedence?
