In the Find and Replace text fields, newlines are literal, so you
can find and replace them just by typing them into the boxes,
rather than having to remember some metacharacter (which you'd then
have to escape if you're looking for that metacharacter). So, no,
currently in that dialog it's not rebindable. We plan to overhaul
that dialog substantially in a future update and will address this
problem.
I get burned in the Documentation search field as well.
How come it can't work like, say, Pages (and I think most other
apps), where option+return enters a searchable return, and return
executes the search?
(I'll file a bug if it helps, though it sounds like you've got plans
already.)
I filed a bug a long time ago asking that the return/enter keys
*always* trigger the Find action in the Find and Multifile Find dlogs.
It's really annoying that you have to go back and activate the Find
field in order for it to work. If you tab down into the editor pane,
good luck getting back to the Find field without the mouse. I'm
looking forward to the planned overhaul. Hopefully it will include
multiple find result windows like CodeWarrior uses. That's a huge
productivity helper.
