I'm building a C++ based Carbon Application connecting to an Oracle Database.
Unfortunately Oracle is (still) not providing a native Intel library for the Apple platform but only a PowerPC based one, so I have to stick with a PowerPC build.
Is there "any" way to use a dynamic library build for the PowerPC into an Intel application or did anyone else find a nicer solution then building a PowerPC application run under Rosetta on an Intel Mac?

Well you could run a separate process under Rosetta to host the PowerPC library, then communicate with that using IPC.

Have you tried contacting Oracle to ask for an Intel library? It may be that they're working on that at the moment, so you might at least get something you can use for development purposes.

Also, if you're just using this library to talk to the database, have you considered using one of the various ODBC drivers instead? There seem to be a few third-party drivers that you could use natively on Intel machines (hint: search Google for "oracle odbc mac os x").

Kind regards,

Alastair.
