Can I use only select debug frameworks?

Folks, Greetings!

My problem is this: I want to only use one group of frameworks' debug versions.  When I go to the General panel of the application & tell it to use the 'debug' suffix, it crashes in an area totally separate from my area of interest, Core Audio.  What I'd like to know is: Can I use the debug frameworks selectively?
