I was forced to move my system and dev tools to a new drive and in the process I seem to have broken something in Xcode.
Xcode and the rest of my system appears to be fine but when I quit a project that I was working on I get an internal error message.
The project seems ok but I need to fix this Xcode problem.

Internal Error:
>>>
File: /SourceCache/DevToolsBase/DevToolsBase-921/pbxcore/SourceControlManagement/SCMG3/SCMModel.m
Line: 86
Object: <SCMModel>
Method: initialize

couldn't create Xcode temporary directory

Question:
1) where should the Xcode temporary directories be located?

In this particular case, the directory in question is .XcodeSCMTemp in your per-user temporary directory (usually /private/var/tmp/folders.<pid>/TemporaryItems/  If you've made this directory inaccessable somehow, try deleting it.
