I think people are hearing your problem - I just don't think anyone is
convinced, yet, that the problem does not stem from some process step,
earlier in the build process, that you have not yet shown...

Indeed, but does file also report the .so files as being relocatable?
If not then whether they are thin or not, or even of the correct arch,
probably becomes moot...
So... Are your relocatable libs actually relocatable?
If not, something is awry further up your build chain, and that needs to
be fixed first.
If they are, then I have no more ideas and will shut up.
(Note: and not get drawn into a discussion about calling conventions and
ABI...)
