FYI, this bug has been reported, at least twice.

I experienced the same problem, even in Xcode 3.0. My project root is <Project File Directory>/.. and I get the lengthy delays when I first turn on SCM and then again whenever I try to perform any SCM operation.

My bug report ID 5647827 (filed 14Dec2007) on this issue -- complete with Xcode "Sample" data -- was closed as a duplicate of ID 5549903, which I don't have access to.

As this has not yet been resolved, our only option is to not use Xcode's Perforce support, but instead do p4 edit/submit via p4v.app.

Yup, this is exactly what I'm seeing. My radar bug is: 6131309

Glad to see I'm not the only one.
