I'm a new imac user. I've been using xcode 3.0 to compile and run

When a parameter in the programs is increased to get higher accuracy
in Gaussian integration (number of intervals in the triple
integrations) it takes increasingly longer on his imac. On my imac
the program runs slower than on his and will stop working after a
certain value of the parameter (too low to get the required
accuracy). I've tried everything I can, but no luck. And Apple
support has little to no experience with xcode.
This really isn't an issue with Xcode. All it does is allow you to
manage, edit and compile your program. Once that is done, any issues
of functionality are in the program itself and you should inquire with
the person that wrote the programs for you for further assistance.
Possibly a clue, when I was trying to run the program with the most
intensive integrals I got an error message from the Time Machine
that it could not back up the computer. Shortly thereafter the
program began to run at what appeared to be the correct speed.
Afterward I turned off the Time Machine and disconnected the
external hard drive it wrote to, but I can't get this program to run
again.
This is a long shot, but perhaps your application is hogging system
resources to such effect that on your iMac it fails, while on his it
does not (because he doesn't have the same software configuration).
This would still be an issue with the program itself and unlikely to
be one with anything installed by the OS.
I've read that xcode 3.0 is buggy. Do I need to switch to an earlier
version? Please help!
If you are worried about bugs in Xcode, 3.1 is available and you
should upgrade to that. But this doesn't sound like its an issue with
Xcode itself.
