HI Andrew!
I recall seeing a website that went over the different application
packaging types like .pkg, .dmg, etc. I believe it dealt with
creation, pros, cons, etc. I know it was an Apple site.
I think that you *might* find what you want in Apple's PDF
document, "Software Distribution Legacy Guide (Legacy)", which is
available if you perform a search of http://developer.apple.com/.
It has some sections discussing the pros of Package Maker, for
instance.
Hmm, not exactly.
I guess I am looking for when to use a .dmg and when to use a .pkg.
Pros and Cons.
I have always created a .dmg using HDIUtil as my apps have been self
contained and did not need to put components other places on the
filesystem except where the user installed it. (Application Support
excluded since I check for that and create if necessary on startup).
Just making sure I am up to date on things. I like to learn.
