Have you used 'lipo -info' to see what architectures the libraries are built for?

Yes.

If I add the two new eSellerate libraries that have been built with 64 bit support and have the following architectures as reported by lipo "i386 ppc ppc64 x86_64" and "i386 x86_64 ppc ppc64"

That is exactly what is confusing me, that they both list "ppc".

Thank you all for the advice and possible solutions. I appreciate all the help in teaching me what exactly is going on here, even if we didn't get to the bottom of it. I would have liked to upgrade to the new libraries since they have cleaned up the code, but I can continue using the old libraries until I drop Tiger support.

Regards,
Conor
