How to disable auto-opening files in the main Xcode window?

Hello xcode-users@,

When I click on a source file in the "main" Xcode window (not sure how
it's called yet -- I am new to Xcode) it automatically opens that file
in the bottom of the window. I would like to disable this annoying
feature and only open the files in the editor when I double click on
them. Is that possible?

Thanks,
