Xcode build process re: data models

I'm thinking about adding a custom data model compiler to my Xcode project but it's not clear to me what the best way to get .mom file into the final executable is. Is there a way to get the compile phase to recognize my data model and get it copied into the executable package similar to how .xcdatamodel files are or do I just need to add a custom copy files phase? I can see how I'd get the model compiled but its not clear to me how Xcode determines what gets copied into the executable package and what doesn't.

Thanks,
Phil
